Strontium Nitrate

FAQ's

Strontium Nitrate is primarily used as a red-color-producing component and oxidizer in pyrotechnics. It is also used as a strontium precursor in the synthesis of ferrites, phosphors, nanotubes, and other advanced materials.

The chemical formula of Strontium Nitrate is Sr(NO₃)₂. Each formula unit consists of one strontium ion associated with two nitrate ions.

When Strontium Nitrate and Sodium Iodide are combined in aqueous solution and the possible products are strontium iodide and sodium nitrate. Since these salts remain soluble in water, no significant precipitate is expected under normal aqueous conditions.

In aqueous solution, Strontium nitrate and Sodium fluoride can undergo an ion-exchange reaction that produces poorly soluble strontium fluoride (SrFâ‚‚) and sodium nitrate

Sr(NO₃)₂ + 2NaF → SrF₂ + 2NaNO₃
