Application of Pyronin B

• RNA Staining in Histology: Pyronin B is widely used as a biological stain to selectively bind RNA in histological and cytological preparations. In the Methyl Green–Pyronin method, it stains RNA-rich structures such as cytoplasm and nucleoli in red, while DNA is stained green by methyl green, allowing clear differentiation.
• Cellular Activity Studies: It helps in identifying areas of active protein synthesis by staining ribosome-rich regions. It is particularly useful in detecting metabolically active cells due to its affinity for RNA.
• Microbiological Staining: It is applied in microbiology to visualize cellular components of microorganisms. It enhances contrast in staining protocols where nucleic acid differentiation is required.
• Fluorescent Applications: Pyronin B exhibits fluorescent properties and is used in research for nucleic acid staining, especially for RNA visualization under fluorescence microscopy.
