Ammonium Fluoride

FAQ's

Ammonium fluoride is used in glass and semiconductor etching, chemical analysis, metallurgical processing, wood preservation, textile processing, brewing, battery materials, solar cells, and scientific research.

The ammonium fluoride formula is NH₄F. The chemical formula for ammonium fluoride consists of one ammonium ion (NH₄⁺) and one fluoride ion (F⁻).

Ammonium Fluoride is noncombustible. It is corrosive to some metals, particularly aluminum. Due to the presence of fluoride it can attack glass and other silicates. Always use appropriate handling procedures and compatible containers.

Ammonium fluoride can react with glass and other silicate materials because of its fluoride ions. For this reason, it is typically stored and handled in plastic or other compatible containers.

Ammonium fluoride is commonly referred to as commercial ammonium fluoride or neutral ammonium fluoride to distinguish it from ammonium bifluoride (NH4HF2).
