Carnauba wax is a complex mixture of high-molecular-weight esters, fatty alcohols, fatty acids, and hydrocarbons obtained from Copernicia cerifera leaves. It is known as the “Queen of Waxes”, composed of aliphatic esters, diesters of 4-hydroxycinnamic acid, ω-hydroxycarboxylic acids, and fatty alcohols. It has a high melting point, glossy finish, excellent hardness, and film-forming properties, making it suitable for cosmetics and widely used in mascaras, eyeliners, lotions, creams, and various other personal-care formulations.
