Rosolic Acid, also known as Aurin or Corallin, is mainly used as a synthetic organic dye and pH indicator. It is specifically used as a pH indicator in the 5.0–6.8 range and is also used for the selective isolation of coliform bacteria in microbiological studies.

Rosolic Acid has a reported pH transition range of about 5.0–6.8, with a color change from yellow to pink or red.

Rosolic Acid indicator solution can be prepared by dissolving the dye in 90–95% ethanol or a dilute sodium hydroxide solution, depending on the intended application.
