
Brilliant Yellow is a synthetic diazo dye derived from stilbene. It has the chemical formula C₂₆H₁₈N₄Na₂O₈S₂ and generally appears as an orange-colored powder or crystalline material. Its conjugated structure gives it an intense color and pronounced pH-responsive behavior. The dye changes from yellow at around pH 6.4 to orange and reddish-orange near pH 8.0 as the solution becomes more alkaline.
