Calconcarboxylic Acid

FAQ's

Calconcarboxylic Acid is mainly used as an indicator for calcium titrations with EDTA, protein gel staining, trace metal analysis and calcium ion detection in analytical and biomedical research.

Calcon indicator is also known as Calconcarboxylic Acid or Patton-Reeder indicator. It is a metallochromic indicator used for the determination of calcium ions by complexometric titration with EDTA.

Calconcarboxylic Acid forms a violet-colored solution in ethanol and undergoes a distinct color change during calcium titrations which makes it suitable as a metallochromic indicator.

Calcon indicator solution is prepared according to the required analytical procedure by dissolving the indicator in an appropriate solvent. The concentration and preparation method depend on the particular laboratory protocol.
